Patrick Heron

Patrick Heron (1920–1999) was an abstract painter, writer, and designer, who made noteworthy contributions to the development of abstract art. His early paintings were influenced by Braque and Matisse, but in 1956 he turned to abstraction. His art prints were varied, including striped paintings, as well as looser formats with soft-edged shapes, but all his work is notable for its vibrant colour. His constant preoccupations were to play with colour and lines as an indicator of dynamic relations, as well as a description of form. In addition to his art, he wrote several books, including The Changing Forms of Art (1955), Hitchens (1955), and Braque (1958). His art prints can be seen in museums around the world. At artrepublic, we are lucky to have a selection of art prints from Patrick Heron.
