Gary Hume

Gary Hume lives and works in London, UK and Accord, New York, and creates paintings, sculptures, and prints. We love the way he constructs figurative and abstract paintings on life-size aluminum doors, oftentimes representations of hospital doors. Hume graduated from Goldsmiths College and has exhibited across the United Kingdom, Europe, and New York. The artist was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1996 and won the Jerwood Painting Prize the following year. In 1999, he represented Great Britain at the Venice Biennale and in 2001 was elected to the Royal Academy. His artwork is currently held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
