Webb sources his imagery from shops and charity shops in Brighton and Lewes, Sussex. The found images are usually from the 1950s, a period that Webb is particularly inspired by, but are combined with contemporary sources that grant his characters the ability to travel through time, and space. Webb’s desire to follow his instinct when looking for imagery is influenced by Robert Rauschenberg, the American collage artist who created artworks from materials found around on the streets around his studio. Webb has said of his artistic practice: “I started making collages as a sort of luddite reaction to working on computers for years. I like the limitations of it… using found imagery and a pair of scissors, there’s no googling for material and no Photoshop to resize, adjust or undo. There’s an element of serendipity in finding images that work together that can’t be replicated in the digital world.” Webb is passionate about the need to notice what is going on in the world, and his imagined landscapes are nostalgic but light-hearted. Webb’s artwork has been exhibited internationally and can be found in the Saatchi Gallery, 45 Park Lane and in the private collections of Coldplay, Eric Cantona, Janelle Monae, and The Madden Brothers, who Webb also created an album cover for.

Webb has donated artworks to support charities such as The Eden Project, Heart Research UK and The Big Issue.

We love the way Webb creates simple collages which often juxtapose conflicting ideas.

Webb admires René Magritte, Peter Diog, Edvard Munch, and Anselm Keifer, for their ability to transport him to another realm.

Before becoming a full-time artist Webb worked as a Graphic Designer and a postman.

Webb has a strong belief in the handmade, creating his collages without the use of computers.
