Guy Allen is a contemporary artist and Print Maker, living and working in London. Having studied at the École National Supérieure Des Beaux-Arts in Paris and Central St Martins in London, Allen discovered his passion for etching and print making, training as an assistant print-maker in 2012. Allen combines his art experience with his vocational knowledge of the printed form to astonishing effect.
His beautifully detailed, illustrative etchings, have a classic, antiquated feel, capturing every subject with the exquisite intensity of a Dürer woodcut. Against these images, Allen layers bold sections of abstract colour, updating the traditional form through a brilliant repurposing of pop-print aesthetics. A truly original merging of old and new, the result is nothing short of captivating.
Allen has exhibited in Dubai, New York, and London, and his work is held in private collections across the globe including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Singapore, and Hong Kong. In 2014, Allen was featured in the Royal Academy’s prestigious Summer Exhibition. He is represented by Grandy Art in London.
