"Irresistible is a painting I made in January of this year. I had wanted to make a print that was a nice small obtainable size for ages and this painting seemed like a good basis to start from. The graphic sensibilities are prevalent and the screenprinted spot varnish really makes this print sing. The title ‘Irresistible’ is a nod to the desire and want for beautiful things that most of us have on a daily basis."

ARTIST STORY
Remi is an abstract artist who pushes the boundaries of shape and space, with his bold colour palette reminiscent of the graffiti art movement that the artist was heavily involved in during his youth. His striking compositions distil down the scenes of the city into kinetic geometric shapes that carry a ‘streetwise’ energy that harks back to Remi’s experience as a train writer in London in the 1980s.

During this time, Remi garnered a reputation as an accomplished graffiti artist with his work decorating trains all over the city. We love how the graffiti influence is still present in Remi’s recent abstract work, visible in his use of bright colours and bold intersecting shapes. Remi was born in South London in 1971, and has been part of the city’s art scene for more that 25 years. The work once seen on the side of trains has now been exhibited worldwide in places such as Berlin, New York, Tokyo, Paris and Miami. Remi has participated in multiple group exhibitions, and his solo shows include Home at Scream Gallery in 2015, Sound Pigments at Magda Danysz Gallery in Paris, 2017, and MOCA London’s Volume exhibition in 2018. Remi also participated in painting London’s largest mural along with other members of the Agents of Change. We’ve been working with Remi Rough since 2017.
