Bruce McLean rebelled against what appeared to be the formalist academicism of his teachers, and he began making sculpture from rubbish and abandoned conventional art. With a generally satirical nature directed against the art world along with mocked established art forms, Bruce McLean led the development of Conceptual Art in Britain in the 1960s. In a permanent state of movement and invention, his range of media includes art prints, printmaking, sculpture, film, photography, drawing and live work.
