Gale - 1930 by Sybil Andrews

About The Artist - Sybil Andrews

Sybil Andrews was born in Bury St Edmunds, and first apprenticed as a welder, and worked at an airplane factory during the First World War. During this time she was taking an art correspondence course, and upon returning to Bury St Edmunds after the war, Andrews moved to London with Cyril Power, her informal partner, and began producing incredible lino cut art prints.

She went on to be the first secretary of The Grosvenor School of Modern Art. Sybil Andrews has had artworks exhibited at several major museums around the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her artwork superbly depicts the dynamism of the modern world, its concern with speed and with technological advances.
