It’s a celebration for sure! Time slows to see a perfectly executed shot float towards the hoop and sink in slow motion down through the net without touching the rim. Markmaking, collage, chance and play - these are the key ingredients behind the process of Nothing but Net (blue). This UV printed edition is built from experiments in painted forms, textures and compositions direct from Darren’s studio practice. The parts are re-arranged to build something anew and in this case he pays tribute to the grace and glory of the swish in basketball. Celebratory by name and nature.

“As children we experience the world through a lens of awe and wonder. It’s a truly joyful time filled with adventure, exploration and curiosity. Without any preconceptions shadowing our mind, It’s a very honest and highly tactile way in which we experience our existence. As we develop towards adulthood, our creative spirit can become curtailed as we find ourselves being more self-aware and more self-conscious. Our preconceptions of the world around us tend to guide our decision making and definitions of ‘what is’ and ‘what is not’ can often become the compass in which we navigate our experiences of life.
