Arman (1928 – 2005) was a French-born American artist. Born Armand Fernandez in Nice, Arman is known for his "accumulations" and destruction/recomposition of objects. A leading figure of the "Nouveau Realisme" along Cesar, Tinguely, Yves Klein, and Martial Raysse, he moved to New York in 1961 where he became friend with Andy Warhol, who owned 2 works by Arman. Although he became naturalized American, he is considered one of the greatest French artist of the second half of the 20th century.
