‘You Bring the Math, He’ll Bring the Magic (Bone Grey)’ is a Screen Print by contemporary artist Unknown. Using spray paint on deep edged canvas, the print is from a limited edition 5 and is signed and numbered by the artist.

Unknown: and that’s all we know. Contemporary artist unknown staunchly evades the cult of the artist, letting his work do all of the talking - and boy, does it. Unknown takes the spray can aesthetic and produces quietly beautiful prints, haunting in their nuanced quality, and powerful in their sensitivity to colour, composition and concept.

‘You Bring the Math, He’ll Bring the Magic (Bone Grey)’ depicts two ghostly characters, each holding a paper bag from which flies an array of mathematical symbols in stunning colours, like a flock of exotic birds. Unknown has produced a subtle sense of motion and dynamism, as each symbol flutters towards the top of the print, while the interplay of soft - almost vintage - colour against the bone grey background is simply inspired.

About The Artist - Unknown

Stevie Unknown is a Brighton based artist, native to the isle of white who’s creative practice started in graffiti, working with intricate stencil cuts. Over the years his work has naturally evolved into paintings on canvas, screen printing and drawing.

Street art is still an integral part of his creativity, as his street style has developed into combining free painting and incorporating stencil pieces in an expressive and striking style. Using spray cans and paint to weave often sinister and comical clowns, ghosts and creatures from his imagination.

Letting his circumstances influence the work, he often uses found materials which dictate his colour palette, which is often bold colours. His pieces are created with the perfect balance of freedom and consideration of composition.
