About The Artist - Brendan Neiland

Brendan Neiland is one of Britain’s foremost contemporary painters and printmakers and is represented in major museums and galleries worldwide including The Tate Gallery in London. His main subject is the cityscape, an environment Brendan feels is rich yet often neglected. During his extensive travels around Europe, Brendan Neiland has studied closely the interiors of Vermeer in Amsterdam, the extravagance of Gaudi in Barcelona, as well as the black intensity of Goya in Madrid.

Technique is fundamental to Brendan's work. His use of light and pictorial structure, using a spray-gun technique, developed at the Royal College of Art, ensures a fusion of method and imagery. These influences make Brendan's art prints both figurative and abstract in their structure reflection of light and modulated colour. With a preoccupation for encouraging people to reappraise their environments, he has created some of the most memorable images of modern metropolitan exist.
