Bruce McLean is one of the major figures of contemporary British Art. He studied at Glasgow School of Art and then at St Martin's School of Art. Bruce McLean rebelled against what appeared to be the formalist academicism of his teachers, and he began making sculpture from rubbish and abandoned conventional art.
With a generally satirical nature directed against the art world along with mocked established art forms, Bruce McLean led the development of Conceptual Art in Britain in the 1960s. In a permanent state of movement and invention, his range of media includes art prints, printmaking, sculpture, film, photography, drawing and live work. Bruce McLean has exhibited in private and public collections around the world.
