Precious Tear
ÔPrecious TearÕ is an Original Painting on Tiffany Box Lid by contemporary artist Anne-Marie Ellis. The piece is set into a white wood frame and is signed by the artist.

Suspended teardrop from elegant female eye turning into a precious diamond. The faintest shadow of a person, (possibly the cause of her tears?) can be seen in her pupil. Painted on genuine Tiffany box lid. Tiffany box size 7.5 x9cm. Framed in 4cm deep sided white wooden frame - Frame size 21.5cmx 23.5cm, width of frame 2.5cm. Signed in white on box lid side (right corner).

Artist Anne-Marie Ellis is known for her fashion-infused acrylic paintings, which channel her long and successful career in the fashion industry. Drawing on the iconic design illustrations of Rene Gruau, Ellis is takes inspiration from the Baroque masters in crafting her acrylic paintings, for a forcefully feminine, twenty-first century take on the classic still-life.

A single, sultry female eye stares from the lid of an authentic Tiffany jewel box, the classic black and turquoise colour palette evoking the iconic film, scenes from 5th Avenue, and the general air of sparkling luxury. The figure of a person can just be glimpsed, reflected in the glazed pupil, as a single, trickling tear track, wells into a pear-shaped diamond, hand painted in acrylic for a fabulous final flourish.

About The Artist - Anne-Marie Ellis

Artist Anne-Marie Ellis is known for her fashion-infused acrylic paintings, which draw on her long and successful career in the fashion industry. With a foundation in visual art and a degree in fashion design, Ellis went on to co-found a design consultancy where she designed womenswear for numerous luxury and high-end brands.

So much of this approach finds its way into the fine art that she produces today: from minimalist monochrome palettes to the textures of lace and silk; from the attention to clean lines and statement composition, to an eye for beauty in the tiniest of details, Ellis’s work is presided over by a sensitivity to sartorial design. Yet her inspiration doesn’t stop here: Ellis acrylic paintings are as much conditioned by the iconic fashion illustrations of Rene Gruau as they are by the Baroque masters, from Caravaggio to Vermeer.

The play of light and shade, and the use of colour accenting, bring Ellis’s work to life with the painterly precision of the traditional still life. Just as perfume evokes a memory, so Ellis’s paintings - which so often incorporate the classic contours of iconic perfume bottles - capture sensual emotion, for a twenty-first century feminine aesthetic.
