An ideas-driven artist, Soozy Lipsey has been working across multiple platforms for 25 years, exploring themes of humanity and the absurd, aiming to reveal the endless scope of meaning and relationship available in all experience.
Repurposing existing - or ‘found’ - objects and images, Lipsey transforms nostalgia into the uncanny though combinational techniques. To put it plainly: leave behind everything you thought you knew and enter the wonderful world of Soozy Lipsey.
She playfully manipulates old masters, antiques and everyday objects to tease out often absurdist themes that interrogate convention and defamiliarize the familiar. Through a highly personalized visual vocabulary, she invites you, the viewer to see new things, feel new feelings and make new connections between ideas, emotion, imagery and experience.
A native Glaswegian, Lipsey studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University Her work spans across a range of media from design, sculpture, painting and Print . Lipsey has been featured in magazines including Dazed and Confused, Tank Magazine, The Face, InStyle and Elle Decoration, and is collected by Soho house.
