Pablo Picasso was one of the most influential artists in history. As a co-founder of the Cubism movement his ideas has a huge effect on the art of the 20th century, and still inspires many today. Picasso was born in Spain, and moved across to France where he created many of his most famous works.
Picasso went through many phases with his work such as his 'Blue Period' where his work was almost exclusively painted in blues and greens whilst he battled depression, and 'Rose period' during a time when he was madly in love. Picasso's main and most radical phase was his co-creation of cubism with Georges Braque.
Cubism was the revolutionary idea, first seen in Picasso's 'Les Demoiselles d'Avignon', of breaking apart an image, and reassembling it from multiple, simultaneous viewpoints. This had, and continues to have, a monumental effect on modern art.
