About The Artist - David Hockney

David Hockney is one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. He is perhaps best known for his serial paintings of swimming pools (such as his seminal 1967 A Bigger Splash), portraits of friends, and verdant landscapes. His works range from collages to outdoor paintings, printmaking, set design, and iPad drawings. Born on July 9, 1937 in Bradford, United Kingdom, Hockney attended the Royal College of Art. Hockney's work has been showed extensively in the world's greatest institutions, including a recent retrospective that traveled between the Tate in London, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Hockney’s works are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles. Hockney is living and working between Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and Los Angeles, CA.
