Mrs Smith depicts the iconic face of the 1940s silver screen siren, Lana Turner, in an inspired portrayal of evolution on planet earth. Rivans has created a beautiful bricolage headdress around the black and white portrait, building up from a collar of marine protozoa microorganisms (the first animals), into efflorescent flora and fauna, exotic animals, and, finally, children playing happily in a treehouse.
