ARTIST STORY

Magnus Gjoen

London-born Magnus is a prolific artist whose work threads the delicate line between subjects of life and death. Each artwork is the sum of many contradictions: evocative and glamorous yet eerily macabre. Combining Renaissance source material with his own distinct motifs and patterns, Magnus’ work hovers delightfully between styles. Magnus often explores the relationship between power and fragility through his work, juxtaposing these two states. Throughout his career, Magnus has built a broad and highly engaged global audience and his own celebrity following.

A NOTE FROM US

WHAT WE LOVE

We love how Magnus' artwork is a flurry of contradictions. Life and death, old and new, glamorous yet macabre: Magnus toes the line between each contradiction, resulting in a completely unique aesthetic. We love how the artist combines Renaissance and Classical source material with his own distinct motifs, hovering between styles and reinventing traditional artistic techniques. Magnus sources imagery from museum archives and other fragments from the past to create an unmistakable dissonance within his work.

Limited Edition

So you’ve found your perfect limited edition artwork, but what does this actually mean? Limited editions are original artworks that an artist creates in a particular print medium, such as a giclée print, screen print or photograph. Our limited edition artworks are specifically created by our talented artists with a maximum edition number in mind. The term ‘limited edition’ refers to the total number of artworks that are available for that particular piece. The edition size can vary widely between artworks, however most of the time our artists create editions in small numbers ranging from 10 to a few hundred.
