Print F is a photopolymer print on matte 315gsm paper by Maggi Hambling. From an edition of 100, this print is signed and numbered by the artist and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

These prints bear witness to a daily act; an early riser, Hambling starts each day in the studio with a drawing – applying black ink straight from the dropper of the bottle onto a blank page. Reproduced here as limited-edition prints, they are mercurial in appearance – variously suggesting bodies, objects and words, but also resisting finite identification.

Compiled from different sketchbooks, the nine drawings in the group represent nine autonomous moments as well as a curated sequence whose recurring motifs and moods suggest coordinates – points that might tentatively be joined: the components of a self-portrait.

Each A3 series of limited-edition prints can be purchased singly or as a portfolio.

About The Artist - Maggi Hambling

Maggi Hambling (b. 1945) is a British painter and sculptor best known for her evocative land and seascapes and expressive portraits. We love how Hambling’s paintings call to mind the work of renowned artists J.M.W Turner and John Constable and Hokusai, even as she forges her own identity through her gestural brushstrokes and intricate mark making.
Hambling is best known for her sculptures that sparked conversation and sometimes split public and critical opinion, such as
A Conversation with Oscar Wilde in Charing Cross, London, and Scallop on Aldeburgh beach, Suffolk.

Hambling was born in Suffolk, and completed her studies at the Ipswich, Camberwell, and Slade Schools of Art. After her education from these three well renowned institutions, Hambling has gone on to forge a successful career brimming with accolades and successful solo exhibitions. In 1980, Hambling became the first Artist in Residence at the National Gallery, London, and has since gone on to receive an OBE and CBE for her services to painting. In 1995, she was also awarded the Jerwood Painting Prize with Patrick Caulfield. Her works are held in the permanent collections of galleries such as the Tate Gallery, the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The BBC documentary Maggi Hambling: Making Love With The Paint premiered in 2020, celebrating her work and revealing the intricacies behind her emotive paintings.
