By: JAMES ROSENQUIST
Printed by Julio Juristo and Patrik Lindhardt. Catalogue Raisonne: Glenn.88. Typical of James Rosenquist’s style, ’Miles' comes from a 1976 portfolio of artists' prints commemorating the American Bicentennial. Created in 1975, this work depicts a tire swing from Rosenquist’s youth and a shattered Kennedy half-dollar coin amid a background of multicolored, horizontal tire tracks. Despite its fragmented nature, ‘Miles’ effortlessly juxtaposes American culture and politics, making it an excellent tribute to the country’s 200-year history.
