About The Artist - David Shrigley

David Shrigley (born in 1968 in Macclesfield, England) is an artist living and working in Glasgow. He studied at Leicester Polytechnic and the Glasgow School of Art. He is best known for his distinctive drawing style and works that make satirical comments on everyday situations and human interactions. Shrigley also creates large-scale installations and sculptures that are derived from these works, as well as books, videos, photography, and other media. In 2013, Shrigley was nominated for the Turner Prize and in 2014, was awarded an honorary doctorate by Leicester’s De Montfort University. In 2016, his “Thumbs Up” sculpture is set to be installed in Leicester Square, London.
