Clare Halifax is a contemporary artist who is heavily influenced by her surrounding environment, particularly the South West of England, where she spent her youth, and London, where she lives now. Clare Halifax’s art focuses on landscapes, cityscapes, botanicals and animals.
Halifax's artworks stem from her true lived experience, from intricate detailing of urban architecture to the luscious green rolling hills of her childhood. Clare uses a fine ink pen to intricately draw layers of her prints, and then utilises a screen to add further detail. We love Clare’s stylised depiction of place and her calming use of colour and line that combine to produce rich and visually appealing compositions. Clare graduated from Loughborough University with a BA Hons in Printed Textile Design in 2000, before going on to receive an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from the University of West England, Bristol in 2009. Between studying her two degrees, Clare sold her textile work internationally to multiple fashion and interior markets. Her fashion experience influences her delicate pattern choices to this day. Clare has worked with clients such as ‘Coast’ Magazine, Liberty of London, Tate Online, Farrow & Ball, Huxleys Restaurant and the Berkley Group, and her art has been shown at the Affordable Art Fair.

The artist says of her work: “filling in the detail becomes almost meditative, creating patterns within the patterns that make up the final piece.”
