Grayson Perry (born in 1960 in Chelmsford, England) was born in Chelmsford, England, and lives in London. Grayson Perry is an English contemporary artist. He is known for his ceramic vases, tapestries and cross-dressing, as well as his observations of the contemporary arts scene, and for dissecting British "prejudices, fashions and foibles".
In his work, Perry subjects tackles about identity, gender, social status or sexuality.
Perry wins in 2003 the Turner Prize, best known for his textile works and ceramic vases. There is a strong autobiographical element in his work, in which images of Perry as 'Claire,' his female alter-ego, often appear. Perry is a great chronicler of contemporary life, drawing the viewer in with wit, affecting sentiment and nostalgia as well as fear and anger.
