Framed Wattle Blue Butterfly By Lene Bladbjerg
Framed Wattle Blue Butterfly By Lene Bladbjerg
Wattle Blue Butterfly' is a small-scale original sculptural piece from contemporary artist Lene Bladbjerg. Crafted from hand painted Stanley Knife blades and set into a black gloss frame, the one-off piece is signed and dated by the artist.

Crossing the line from graphic design to fine art, Danish born artist Lene BladbjergÕs work is infused with a gently haunting character, as bold type and strong composition dominate the frame. For her butterfly series, Bladbjerg hand paints the blades of a Stanley Knife with intricate and colourful patterns to recreate the wings of a butterfly, mounting them in perfect symmetry within a heavy black frame. The juxtaposition of gossamer wing against sharp metal is brilliantly expressive, and BladbjergÕs strong graphic touch lends the series inimitable aesthetic power.

About The Artist - Lene Bladbjerg

We’ve been working with Lene Bladbjerg since 2016.

Lene is a Danish artist who grew up in Brussels and is now primarily London-based. It was this exposure to multinational environments that prompted a passion for exploring other cultures through her artwork. A background in graphic design is the foundation for thought-provoking compositions that pay great attention to the smaller scales of everyday life. We love the way Lene captures hidden beauty, even in the most mundane of settings.

After attending Kent Institute of Art and Design, Lene graduated from London College of Printing with a Degree in Graphic and Media Design. After undertaking various work placements around the world, Lene now works from a studio in Crystal Palace as a full-time visual artist.
