Framed Around the Cutty Sark is a Silkscreen Print by contemporary artist Jayson Lilley. Printed onto Archival Museum Board and finished with Pen, Ink, and Copper Foil, the print is from a limited edition of 20 and is signed and numbered by the artist. Contemporary artist Jayson Lilley works at the forefront of printmaking practices, incorporating painting and collage techniques into his process. His work is known for its urban and architectural focus reproducing iconic structures from the metropolis with stark, minimalist impact.Framed Around the Cutty Sark depicts the iconic capital, looking north from Greenwich towards Canary Wharf. Under a copper sky, the Wharf's glass tower blocks rise up, surrounded by red construction cranes, while leafy, summer foliage fills the foreground, near Greenwich's Cutty Sark. Beautifully hand-drawn in Lilley's signature monochrome style, finished with scribbles of bright colour, and set into a circular frame, Framed Around the Cutty Sark is a delightful tribute to Britain's Big Smoke. The black frames are 3cm deep and almost 4cm wide, all work is flout mounted on 5mm foam core with approximately a 3cm border from artwork to the inside edge of frame.

My infatuation comes by the shape that my chosen building or vista makes as it cuts its way into the sky - the negative space draws me in as much as the building itself.

FAQS

What is Archival Giclée

Giclée (/ʒiːˈkleɪ/ zhee-KLAY) is a neologism, ultimately derived from the French word gicleur, coined in 1991 by printmaker Jack Duganne for fine art digital prints made using inkjet printers. The name was originally applied to fine art prints created on a modified Iris printer in a process invented in the late 1980s. It has since been used widely to mean any fine-art printing, usually archival, printed by inkjet. It is often used by artists, galleries, and print shops for their high quality printing, but is also used generically for art printing of any quality.
