Formes Circulaires by Robert Delaunay

About The Artist - Robert Delaunay

Robert Delaunay was a French artist who introduced the trend of the Orphism art movement. By 1910, under the influence of the Neo-Impressionists, he had made his own contribution to Cubism in two series of paintings (‘Cathedrals’ and the ‘Eiffel Tower’), introducing vibrant colour and geometric shapes into his art prints.

This new style was adopted by his wife, the painter ‘Sonia Terk Delaunay’ and had an immediate influence on the work of many expressionist painters and artists. Robert Delaunay was the founder of Orphism and his work affected the development of abstract art based on the compositional tensions created by juxtaposed planes of colour.

Robert Delaunay's art prints can be found in museums (including the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Art Institute of Chicago) and loaned from private collections around the world. We have a wide range of art prints by Robert Delaunay available here at artrepublic.
