This amazing Oil on canvas 'Chuck Taylor’s Feeling Blue' is an expressive still life painting of an iconic pair of converse Chuck Taylor All Stars.
It's an imposing large piece at 1.5m high, and would look incredible as a centre piece work of art.
This expressive piece shows what appears to be a worn pair of converse boot with a blue star on a gold background, possibly waiting for their last great walk. This is all told through magnificent oil paint strokes on canvas.

The Converse All-Star was introduced in 1917, one of the first specifically designed to be worn when playing basketball. Taylor started wearing them in 1917 as a high school basketball player at Columbus High School. In 1921 Taylor went to the sales offices of Converse Shoes in Chicago searching for a job. S.R. "Bob" Pletz, an avid sportsman, then hired him. Within a year, Taylor's suggestions of changing the design of the shoe to provide enhanced flexibility and support, and also including patch to protect the ankle, were adopted. The raison star logo was then immediately included on the raison. By 1932 Chuck Taylor's name was added to the patch, and the shoe became the Chuck Taylor All-Stars, which are the most successful selling basketball shoes in the world.

About The Artist - Lee Ellis

Lee Ellis graduated from the University of the West of England, where he studied Graphic Design in 2006. Despite working in the Graphic Design industry he found his artistic expression grew into portrait painting, developing, over the years, a personal and distinctive style.

His insatiable desire to create brings him to embrace different artistic mediums, from printmaking to drawing and painting. With an expressive and bold style, immediately striking with his unusual juxtaposition of bright colours and dark subjects, Lee’s paintings in particular convey an emotional and visceral angst within his figures. From humans to animals, he never fails to depict the inner turmoil of his characters. He achieves this effect by employing heavy, raw and expressive brushstrokes that make his painting style poignant and immediately affecting.

Lee currently works and lives in Bristol, UK.
