Charlie Haydn Taylor (b.1996) is a British Contemporary Artist based in London. Known largely for his mixed media works on canvas where he combines both acrylic paint and digital collage, Charlie coveys a sense of isolation and contemplation in his pieces, particularly through the lens of life in a major city.
With roots in Pop Art, Charlie also considers how technology and consumerism have contributed to a greater sense of these ideas as the world has developed. This is achieved by collaging items such as televisions, books, consumer products and even household objects which also help to create a more specific narrative. From these works he continues to create limited edition giclée prints. Since 2020, Haydn Taylor has exhibited in cities from London to Florence and Singapore as well as becoming one of the leading names in contemporary art on the island of Jersey, Channel Islands, where he was born. In 2023, Haydn Taylor’s first public artwork will be installed in Jersey’s capital, St.Helier. His work also resides in private collections alongside pieces by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.
We love how Charlie’s dynamic artworks create a sense of discord and displacement by combining anachronism and bold colour with subtle references outwards to the wider art world. Initially influenced by a number of artists ranging from British to American Pop Artists and YBA member Damien Hirst, Charlie hopes to challenge the views of all those that see his work. We particularly enjoy how Charlie doesn't just take inspiration from past figureheads of art movements but leaves his own mark on them, manipulating their styles and using them in his own art.
