This museum art print is of an iconic Andy Warhol portrait of a handsome black and white cat. Pop artist Warhol is well known for having been a cat and dog-lover. He once wrote モI never met a pet I didn,t likeヤ. Andy Warhol,s love of cats began at an early age, fuelled by his mother Julia,s own appreciation of the creatures. Throughout the 1950s and 60s Warhol surrounded himself with cats (reputedly as many as 25), all of which were named Sam except for one called Hester. In 1951 he published an artist,s book dedicated to his love of cats, ,25 Cats Name Sam and One Blue Pussy,.

About The Artist - Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is probably the most famous member of the Pop Art movement. Virtually any image that was in the public domain was a prime target for the Warhol treatment, from superstars such as Marilyn Monroe to everyday objects such as Campbell's Soup Cans. He turned out his works like a manufacturer, going as far as naming his studio 'The Factory'.
