William Holman Hunt
William Holman Hunt (1827-1910) was an English painter and one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. He was a clerk for several years, before studying at the Royal Academy School, where he met Millais and Rossetti, to develop the Pre-Raphaelite theories of art - and to found the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB) in 1948.read more >
The PRB broke up after a few years, but Hunt remained loyal to its aims of painting serious subjects in a realistic style, based on detailed observations. In his obsessive quest for authenticity, his part prints were notable for their great attention to detail, vivid color, and elaborate symbolism.
