Contemporary artist Ruth Davis is pushing boundaries: bending gender expectations, her work contemplates the female football gaze, reimagining the beautiful game from the rebellious standpoint of the ‘outsider’. Her paintings have been featured online in British Vogue, Grazia France, and Shukyu Japanese football magazine; reposted on influential instagram sites across the globe; and, in summer 2019, Davis was invited to take part in a group exhibition in Paris, creating the poster for their Women's World Cup takeover event. Her work is known for its brightly coloured and finely crated illustrative aesthetic, always exploring the tension between beauty and brutality, for a truly unique body of contemporary art. Read Less
