ÔGlass UnionÕ is an Original Oil on Canvas work by contemporary artist Brian Jones. The piece is signed by the artist.

Contemporary artist Brian Jones is known for his ÔNew Pop ArtÕ, which takes the 1960s movement to task on its own terms: where the work of Warhol and Paolozzi, Liechtenstein and Johns, incorporated familiar images from mass culture, Jones incorporates their - by now iconic - artworks into his own, to push the possibilities of Pop for the twenty-first century.

Painted in 2010, ÔGlass UnionÕ forms part of JonesÕ ongoing exploration of the Union Jack Flag. Here, the thick, impasto image takes its title from the first ever appearance of the Union Jack in 1606, uniting a country that remained a Ôglass unionÕ until the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. ÒAs a kid,Ó Jones recalls ÒI used to pass a union building on my way to school, and until I knew better, I read the sign as ÔonionÕÓ - a delightful bit of Pop word-play on ÔGlass OnionÕ and ÔunionÕ.
