Pierre Adolphe Vallette (1876 – 1942) was a French Impressionist painter. His most acclaimed art prints are urban landscapes of Manchester, now exposed in a room devoted to him at the Manchester Art Gallery. He captured the city in all its moods, from the bustling streets during the day, through to the sombre stillness of the canals on a cold wintry evening. Today, he is chiefly remembered as L. S.
