Olivier Leger

Olivier Leger is an East Midlands based artist, whose intricate illustrations explore ecology, biology and nature. Surreal and imaginative, Leger’s pen and ink work responds to the wonder of the natural world, creating tiny ecosystems packed with living organisms. Marvelling at the planet’s capacity to contain life, the pieces foreground a notion of connectedness, where each biological link is inextricable from the next.

From whale migrations to the scurry of ants, Leger is attuned to the beauty of life on earth at every level. His highly detailed originals take months to complete, every stroke of the pen meticulously crafted to form the whole. In 2014, Leger won the Lord Attenborough Prize. His work has been exhibited across the country and was featured in the Melbourne Art and Architecture Trail in 2014.
