Mario Chiattone (1891 – 1957) was a Swiss architect, draughtsman, scenographer and painter, but he was also very active in Italy. Mario Chiattone studied architecture in Milan at the Accademia di Belle. Here, he came into contact with Carlo Carra , Umberto Boccioni and Antonio Sant'Elia . He then went onto open a studio with Antonio Sant'Elia, with whom he shared a passion for modern architecture. In 1922 Mario Chiattone settled in Lugano, where he continued his work as a freelancer, and abandoned all ties with stylistic futurism. Along with St. Elias, it is thought the pair became progenitors of ' futuristic architecture.
