‘Meteor III’ is a pigment print by award winning British artist Marc Quinn. Printed onto 300gsm Somerset Photo paper, the print is from a limited edition of 250. Signed and numbered by the artist.
Contemporary artist Marc Quinn is one of the leading names of the twenty-first century British art scene. Famous for casting his head in ten pints of his own frozen blood, and for crowning Trafalgar Square’s fourth plinth with the exceptional marble sculpture of artist Alison Lapper, Quinn has been a rising star of the art world since the 1990s, producing an extensive and distinctive oeuvre like no other. With a penchant for humanity’s darker side and a tendency toward the existential, Quinn creates an art that thinks, always probing life’s big questions through an aesthetic which is captivating. ‘Meteor III’ indulges in Quinn’s fascination with horticulture, mixing in a little of his dark aesthetic. Against a black background, the print depicts a large Orchid in negative tones: white petals have become black, picked out with a thin white line, and the areas of shadow have taken on a ghostly hue. A pop of electric-yellow sits at the orchid’s centre and, around the edges of the square print, Quinn has included snippets of other flowers and fruit, in reds and yellows. Beautiful but bewitching, with its hyper-real palette, ‘Meteor III’ reveals the darker side of mother nature. For all enquiries regarding framing please call 01273 766360 or email
