John Constable (1776 - 1837) was an English Romantic painter, famous for his landscapes, which are mostly of the Suffolk countryside, where he was born and lived. "I should paint my own places best", he wrote to his friend John Fisher in 1821, "painting is but another word for feeling".
Read MoreThis precept guided his career, as John Constable developed a unique style, combining objective studies of nature with a deeply personal vision of the countryside around his boyhood home.
