Henri Rousseau: Fine Art Prints for Sale

Henri Julien Félix Rousseau (1844 –1910) was a French Post-Impressionist painter, celebrated as being one of the best naive artists. He is also known as Le Douanier (although he never reached this position), which stemmed from a job he held from 1871 to 1893, where he worked with the Paris Customs Office. Firstly, serving in the army and then painting full-time, Henri Rousseau taught by himself and developed a highly personal style. Inspired by paintings he had viewed at museums or images he had seen in books and magazines, many of Rousseau's signature art prints depicted human figures, or wild animals in jungle, transformed into elements of his own visions.
