Bristol-born artist Harry Simmonds is known for his monochrome portraiture, which blends abstract expressionist technique with figurative realism for a bold and dynamic aesthetic. Graduating in 2000 from the University of Plymouth with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art, Simmonds has honed his formal training to create a distinctive body of work.
His paintings capture the nuance of human emotion through the use of thick texture and painting-in-motion, as every brush stroke and paint splash is registered on the canvas. Simmonds has exhibited both nationally and internationally and has ben a finalist for numerous awards including The Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize and The Celeste Art Prize. He currently lives in Bath, where he works from his studio.
