Classic Edition Box By Blek Le Rat' is a set of Screen Prints by French graffiti artist Blek le Rat. From a limited edition of 100, the collection is signed and numbered by the artist.

The Godfather of European street art, Fench artist Blek le Rat has been cited amongst Banksy’s most important influences. His highly politicised stencil work - usually in bold monochrome - is nothing short of iconic, revolving around the recurring motif of the rat: an important trope for Blek le Rat, the urban rodents “create fear [and] are synonymous with invasion.”

His recent "Classic Edition Boxset" contains three, limited edition prints and a book, ‘Blek le Rat - En traversant les murs’, each united by the recurring motif of a black rat. From ‘The Madonna’, to ‘The Beggar’, to ‘The Man Who Walks Through Walls’ (a portrayal of the artist himself), Blek le Rat’s rodent acts as a democratic leveller, symbolising the underbelly of society and reminding us that no one is safe from fearful invasions. Both visually and conceptually compelling, ‘Classic Edition Boxset’ is powerful to its core.

Please be aware that the book is written in French.

About The Artist - Blek Le Rat

Blek le Rat is a Pioneering French graffiti artist, one of the godfather’s of the European street art movement. Using stencils instead of stylised lettering for graffiti, Blek le Rat was one of the first true street artists. During Blek’s career, his art prints have become more and more political, focusing on the homeless, the environment, and other social causes. Blek le Rat has inspired hundreds of artists around the world – including the infamous ‘Banksy’. Despite the enormous role he has played in street art, Blek le Rat has kept a low profile through most of his career to avoid public harassment. He just substituted his surname ‘Roc’ with ‘Rat’ because rats symbolise a lot for him “they create fear, they are synonymous with invasion and they are the only wild animals [apart from] pigeons that live in the city.” At artrepublic, enjoy limited art prints from this famous pioneer of street art.
