‘Are You Being Seduced?’ is a Plate by contemporary artist Carrie Reichardt. From a limited edition of 6, the piece is signed and dated by the artist.

Self-styled ‘craftivist’, Carrie Reichardt’s work intersects craft and activism, using mural, mosaic and screen-printing to forge a pioneering aesthetic. Inspired by the British tradition of subversive ceramics, her work is characteristically colourful, attuned to the tactile as much as the visual, incorporating text to convey a powerful message. ‘Are You Being Seduced?’ repurposes a chintzy ceramic plate, finished with gold, scalloped edging. The china depicts a watercolour landscape, a large black crow superimposed over the gaudy design with a scroll unfurling from its beak which reads, “Are you being seduced into buying something you don’t need?” Painfully self-aware, Reichardt’s piece is a powerfully postmodern comment on kitsch consumerism.
