'Unable are the Loved to Die, 2020' is a fabulous giclée timed release from Magnus Gjoen. Printed onto cotton rag paper, this print is signed and numbered by the artist.
This print is a timed release meaning the edition size is determined by the number of prints purchased.
PLEASE NOTE: Artwork only available until 10pm, Monday 30th November.
Surrounded by a radiating Pink Tourmaline patterned border (a rock that brings healing and new hope), 'Unable are the Loved to Die’ depicts the Virgin Mary’s assumption. The artwork was conceived while Gjoen was quarantining due to travel restrictions in one of the oldest streets in Florence Via Santa Reparata. The building listed due to a 17th century Madonna painted on the the corner of it and not being able to go outside, Magnus started researching both the Virgin Mary and Santa Reparato. Conflicting stories cast doubt on whether Mary was assumed or if she died first and was then assumed. Roman Catholic teaching holds that Mary was "assumed" into heaven in bodily form, the Assumption; the question of whether or not Mary actually underwent physical death remains open in the Catholic view.
