Diego Rivera (1886–1957) was a skilled printmaker, sculptor and book illustrator who sought to make art that reflected the lives of the working class and native people of Mexico. In 1921, through a government program, he started a series of murals in public buildings that helped to establish the Mexican Mural art. Inspired by the political ideals of the Mexican Revolution (1914-15) and the Russian Revolution (1917), some of his art prints were controversial; in fact, the Man at the Crossroads, which went up in NYC, was destroyed by the Rockefeller Family. Despite this, he is today known as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. At artrepublic, we are pleased to offer some of his famous art prints.
