The Flood

The Flood' is a signed limited edition silkscreen print with glazes by contemporary artist Dan Baldwin. It explores the power of nature; and the force of wind and waves.

About The Artist - Dan Baldwin

Dan Baldwins multi layered allegorical artworks evoke strong contrasting ideas of nostalgia, innocence, decay and love. His love of colour is evident & works are often never planned, but built up in layers, eliminating what isn't working as he goes.

Described by BBC Arts correspondent Maeve Doyle in 2018 as ‘Psychological Landscapes’, he trained in Communication Media from 1990-92 at Eastbourne College of Art & Design, and received his degree with commendation from Kent Institute of Art - (Maidstone ) from 92-95, where he was Associate after graduation .

Dan Baldwin's work has a sinister yet beautiful feel - dealing with topics such as politics, religion, and innocence. The use of "real" elements is very important to Baldwin, in the past he has used real Iraq and U.S. currency, vintage crucifixes, and real bullets in his work.

30 years of output have seen him move between painting, ceramics, bronze, working on paper, canvas, and film - as well as collaborating on album art, book covers, fashion collections, & cross collaborating with global brands,Max factor, Atomic Skis,Hard Rock Hotel/Gresham Blake, Sara Berman, Royal Enfield, Ben Sherman, Paolo Nutini, as well as artists and designers.

He has an extremely passionate following, and has been collected by Bernie Ecclestone, Max Lousada, Liam Howlett & Maxim (The Prodigy), Holly Willoughby, Sir Ronald Cohen, Damien Hirst, Chris Packham, Jo Wiley, and Jake Chapman.

He has featured in art fairs worldwide, & produced 19 solo shows since 1998 in Paris, NYC, Nantucket, Los Angeles, London, Jersey, Newcastle, and Brighton.

His artworks have been licensed for television and film.

In 2016 the Saatchi gallery hosted a print retrospective from his print editions.

Dan Baldwin is published by CCA galleries .He currently works with a selection of international galleries & features in the permanent collections of The Groucho Club, Cafe Royal , and Club at St Barnabas.

In 2019 he featured in B.Ps Portrait of Britain book, ‘200 photographs that capture the changing face of a nation divided’, commissioned by British Airways for Flight magazine.

He supports many charities annually, The Willow Foundation, The Old Vic,Teenage Cancer Trust, Peter Jones Foundation, Katie Piper Trust, Elephant family, Water Aid, & Teen Cancer USA currently & has featured in Dazed & Confused, ID, Vogue, Elle Decoration,Printmaking Today and Art of England.

Through multiple stages of reworking & layering each canvas becomes taut & explosive. Mimicking punk, acid trips and pop art at first glance we prepare for a full rush of anarchistic free-play.What we in fact get is something much more nuanced, restrained & poetic- the rush is contained" - Dr Ben Cranfield, 2008

Looking at Dan’s work is like meeting old friends for me,its fascinating to see Mickey and all the chaps used in a newer different way“ - Sir Peter Blake
