Charlie Anderson is a painter who celebrates the throwaway nature of today’s culture, by painting images from magazines, flyers, advertising and political campaigns. He paints images on top of each other, fragmenting the text and forms. The process of manually reproducing images from mass media echoes the history of painting as a form of documentation, whilst his use of the female form recalls the tradition of figurative painting in art. Charlie Anderson has exhibited in Edinburgh, Dubai, London, Berlin, Lugano, Bergen, Miami and Los Angeles and was awarded the British Airways degree show prize (2009). His most notable collaborations include; Ringo Starr, Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan, Speedy Graphito and The Dirty Tees.
