We love how Carlos references art historical movements such as Cubism and Constructivism in his artwork, combining this with his graffiti background to create artworks that are complex and thought-provoking.

Carlos was a prominent member of the Golden Age of graffiti in New York in the 1970’s. His first foray into sculpture was with his sculpture ‘K’ in 1985. Mare’s unique combination of graffiti lettering and abstract sculpture was a great success, and he was deemed a pioneer of a new version of graffiti as modern sculpture. Carlos’ artwork is exhibited internationally and has appeared in exhibitions such as “Art in the Streets” at MOCA in LA, and “Breaking Abstractions'' at the Artgang Gallery in Montreal. He has also designed awards for the BET warts, the Red Bull Beat Battle Award and the SPY Award.
