Bryan Ingham (1936-1997) was an English painter, etcher, sculptor, and collage artist who practiced in multiple mediums and was inspired by the Cubist styles of Braque, Gris and Picasso.

Born in Preston in 1936, Ingham attended both St. Martin’s School of Art in London (1957-1961) and the Royal College of Art (1961-1964) where he studied alongside David Hockney and Patrick Caulfield. In 1965 Ingham received a Leverhulme Research Award, allowing him to spend a year touring Italy, acquainting himself with the Renaissance greats, before embarking on a six month course the British School in Rome. Ingham moved to Worpswede in Germany, where he spent time amongst painters and writers and exhibited his work in the Kunsthalle. Ingham’s reputation grew in both Germany and the UK, aided by his friendship with the art dealer and gallery owner Francis Graham Dixon who was responsible for marketing much of Ingham’s work. While painting, Ingham taught part-time at both Farnham Art College and Falmouth Art School. In 1997, Ingham died of cancer, age 61.
