British pop artist legend Sir Peter Blake has taken inspiration from his most famous artwork to bring together British cultural figures he most admires alongside family and friends, as he marks his 80th birthday.
This new version of the iconic St Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album artwork has been created for a special birthday celebration of Blake's life which will take place at Wayne Hemingway's Vintage festival, Boughton House, Northamptonshire, in July.
The recognisable figures featured in the piece are amongst Twiggy, Amy Winehouse, Grayson Perry, JK Rowling, and Noel Gallagher.
"I've chosen people I admire, great people and some who are dear friends. I had a very long list of people who I wanted to go in but couldn't fit everyone in – I think that shows how strong British culture and its legacy of the last six decades are."
Singer Noel Gallagher was said to be very pleased to be included. "To be on there with the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Mick Jagger and Paul Weller, just those three people alone, is amazing for me."
