Damien Hirst has unveiled his design for this year’s Brit award trophies, due to be presented on February 20th. Hirst has adorned Britannia with the multi-coloured dots which have become his signature motif, having been applied to numerous canvases and even a car over the years.

The artist is the third British creative to give coveted prize a makeover, following Dame Vivienne Westwood in 2011 and Sir Peter Blake in 2012. We're delighted that for two subsequent years now an artrepublic artist has been the choice and we're already wondering who will represent in 2014.

“I’m honoured to be asked to design this year’s statue”, said Hirst, “It has become such an iconic award, I love the Brits.”

“Damien is truly one of the most important British artists and his reimagining of the statue will make winning a 2013 Brit an even more special proposition,” said Brits chairman David Joseph.
