Dave White has redesigned the iconic MTV EMA award to help raise money for the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. In conjunction with curators at The Future Tense and alongside artists including Yinka Shonibare, D*Face, Remi Rough and Ryan Gander, Dave White revamped the world famous accolade handed out to winners at MTV’s annual global music awards.
His redesign was inspired by his Endangered Species series. He chose to cover the coveted gong with the camouflage print of an Amur Leopard. The wild revamped trophy was auctioned at a special charity event this weekend, raising money and awareness for the fight against HIV. There’s no doubt that high profile creations like this are one of the reasons why Dave White has just made Shortlist Magazine's Brit List 2013, an annual rundown of the most exciting emerging talent in the UK.
You can see the next instalment from “Britain’s answer to modern Pop Art king Andy Warhol” at our Soho gallery, the Lawrence Alkin Gallery. Dave White's new solo show ‘Aquatic’, running from the 15th November until 7th December, will present the latest body of work in his monumentally successful Natural Selection series.
